We are trying to find out which dates will work, and what a preference on location might be. Issues with travel are always something we encounter with these things, but we are trying to get ahead of the cascade. The topic of this year's retreat is 'Learning to Hear: Listening to Your Life in the Swedenborgian Tradition.' This retreat will focus on how to integrate Swedenborg's message into the rhythms of your daily life. The following is a rough overview of the three-day weekend.
Day one, Friday: Hearing the Word. Learning to see the movements of Heaven in our daily life is one of the most important skills to develop in the spiritual walk. Over two seminars, we will examine methods of attention, to help us reflect more deeply on who we are and where we are going. Insights from psychoanalysis, communication studies, and the teachings of Emanuel Swedenborg will be centred in this period, followed by a nightly sung devotional.
Day two, Saturday: Embodying the Word. Morning Devotional: "In my name."In this intensive course, we will use the principles found in the Bible and in Swedenborg to understand both our trials and triumphs as they relate to the Biblical messages. Understanding the Word correspondentially means that the stories we read are living symbols of the Lord's sacred mission. We will have two sharing circles, and a seminar on the 'power of imperfection.' Nightly Sung Devotional.
Day three, Sunday: Sharing the Word. Sunday Worship. This session will explore how sharing Swedenborg's message can benefit those we care about, and we will have a series of discussions about how one can meaningfully share your personal walk of faith, without appearing either pushy or confrntational. We will do a great deal of role-playing. Sunday Dinner, followed by sing along time.
Day four (optional): Tour day.
