Living Wage Consumer Pledge: I support living wages, which provide fair pay for workers and build more just, prosperous communities. I will spend my money with employers who pay a living wage. In Orange County NC, the living wage is $13.70, or $12.20 with employer-provided benefits.

There are many ways to advocate for raising wages in North Carolina. We encourage you to contact elected officials at the state level to encourage a higher minimum wage in NC. AND you can support the many businesses in Orange County who have certified as living-wage employers; talk with businesses you frequently patronize about the importance of living wages and ask them to certify; and verify that anyone you hire for service receives at least a living wage. If you're not sure what an employee's hourly wage is, add a tip to reach $13.70.
I will support living-wage-certified businesses and nonprofits.
I will pay a living wage to people I personally hire for services. (ie, landscapers, cleaners, etc.)
I will encourage businesses and nonprofits I support to become living-wage certified.
