📚 BCGT Book Club Interest Survey

BCGT is excited to explore a new Book Club for students in 3rd–5th grade! Our goal is to create a fun, relaxed space where kids can enjoy great books, share their ideas, and meet other students from across the district — including kids they may not normally have the chance to get to know at their own school.

And the best part? The kids will help choose what we read! 📖

This Book Club will focus specifically on chapter books. Whether your child loves fantasy, historical fiction, mysteries, adventure, funny stories, or a great book series, we want to hear what interests them. Book selections will be based on student interests, reading levels, and the feedback we receive through this survey.

Parents, please make sure all book suggestions are age-appropriate and appropriate for students in grades 3–5.

🍂 Fall Book Club

Our first chapter book will be selected in September based on student preferences.

Students will have time to read the book between meetings, with two opportunities to come together:

• October: Meet after reading approximately the first half of the book to talk about the characters, story, favorite moments, predictions, and what everyone thinks might happen next.
• November: Meet after finishing the book to discuss the ending, favorite and least-favorite parts, surprises, characters, and everyone's overall thoughts about the story.

At the November gathering, students can also start sharing ideas and recommendations for what they might like to read next!

❄️ Winter Book Club

Our second chapter book will be selected in December, again with input from the students.

• January: Meet after reading approximately the first half of Book #2.
• February: Meet after finishing the book to discuss the finale and share everyone's thoughts and reactions.

🌟 More Than Just a Book Club

This is meant to be social, welcoming, and fun — not another homework assignment! There will be no essays, tests, or formal assignments.

Instead, students will have a chance to talk about books they enjoy, hear different perspectives, and meet other kids from across the district who may share similar interests.

And there's a great bonus: reading chapter books and talking about them with others naturally strengthens reading comprehension, vocabulary, communication, and writing skills — skills that can help students in school, too.

So it's a win-win: discover a great book, strengthen your skills, and make some new friends along the way! 📚🤝✨

Please complete this short survey to tell us about your child's reading interests, favorite genres or series, and whether your family would be interested in participating. Your responses will help us determine book selections, groups, meeting format, and overall interest.
