Register for Feb. 24th Screening of 2022 Educator Strike Documentary "Hold the Line"
What does it feel like to be on strike? What do educator strikes mean for the future of public schools in our society?

The Political Education Committee of the Twin Cities Democratic Socialists of America is excited to invite you to a screening of the documentary, Hold the Line, about the 2022 Minneapolis educator strike. The film follows the staff at Ella Baker School as they walk the picket line day after day to demand better schools and better jobs (see the movie trailer below). Interviews with dozens of educators while they are on the line draws an intimate portrait of what it's like to walk off the job with solidarity and determination. The screening will be followed by a Q&A and discussion with the director and the audience.

The screening is taking place Saturday, February 24th at 2:30pm at the 200-person screening room at Minneapolis Central Library (Room S-280 on the second floor of 300 Nicollet Mall, Minneapolis, MN 55401). The screening itself is free, and paid parking is available ($5 for 2 hours) in the ramp beneath the library through the entrance on 4th St. on the south-facing side of the library (more parking info here).

The director of the documentary is himself an educator who was on strike and is a member of both the Minneapolis Federation of Teachers and the Democratic Socialists of America, though the movie itself was produced without any institutional support. DSA's Political Education Committee is proud to host this screening to spread awareness of local worker struggles and build support for unions as contract campaigns are currently ramping up across the metro area.
