Thank you for booking a visit to our library.
If you would like to access collection items from our offsite store when you visit, use this form to order up to five items.
Please order at least one week in advance of your visit, to give us sufficient time to retrieve items from storage.
- Use our library catalogue and Archives Finding Aids to find items you are interested in and check the location information in the record. If the location shows as ‘Offsite Store’ you can use this form to order up to five collection items for your visit. Items which have an offsite storage number in their record will be faster to retrieve.
- Transcripts of parish registers and monumental inscriptions from our library and all of our archives have been digitised, so if you would like to view any
of these, please ensure that you have reserved a library computer.
Eventually these files will be added to our collections system (SoG
Explore) - in the meantime, please add them to your order form so that
we can arrange to have the files ready for your visit. You can include
up to five British parish register or monumental inscriptions items in
your order form as one item.
- As we are a FamilySearch affiliate organisation, you can access FamilySearch records at our premises online or on film. Use the FamilySearch catalogue to find details of record sets you would like to see and add to this form (including FHL film numbers if possible) at least one week in advance of your visit. We’ll let you know whether the resources will be available online or on film.
- Our archival collections are in the process of being catalogued for our new collections system. In the meantime, contact genenquiries@sog.org.uk with
your research questions, and our friendly and helpful genealogy team
may be able to provide relevant information about archives of interest
to you. Use that information in this form to access such items.
Though most of our collection items in storage are easily retrievable (especially if they have a barcode), some items may require some investigation, especially if they were not identified in the packing process at our previous library, or if the barcode was recorded incorrectly). We will make every effort to retrieve everything requested and will be in touch with you before your visit to confirm.
