Battle of the Books is a voluntary reading program for students in grades 3-6 where teams of four to five students compete to answer questions about the books they've been reading from the battle of the books list.
There are 20 books on each grade level list. Students do not have to read every book on the list, however, the more books each person on the team reads the better chance they have when answering questions about the books in a battle. The book lists are available on the library blog:
https://libertyhillslibrary.blogspot.com/The school library also has multiple copies of the books and they are available in eBook format on SORA at
https://soraapp.com/library/alpineut, our school's online library.
It is very important for students to understand the commitment they make to their team members. Please discuss what it means to be part of a team with your child. If your student signs up for Battle of the Books, we ask that they commit to sticking to it for the school year and read at least 4 of the books from the list by early March when our battles will start. Their team will be counting on them!
We love volunteers and need several to help us run the battles in March. If you can help, please provide your contact information on this form. THANK YOU!
We’re excited for another great year of READING and hope you and your child will join us!
