Information & Technology Careers Academy Registration
Training Begins January 2018
The Information and Technology Careers Academy (ITCA) prepares participants to step into the following positions after completing this training such as: IT Help Desk Specialist, IT Support Technician, IT Repair Specialist, IT Repair Technician or IT Repair Technician's Assistant.

These IT related jobs are the highest in demand positions with local Madison area employers, particularly with employers like American Family Insurance, Alliant Energy, TDS, Charter and Local and State Government Agencies.

About the Information & Technology Career Academy (ITCA)
The Urban League's Information & Technology Career Academy (ITCA) is an 11 month PAID training program that has two components:

1. Classroom Instruction at Madison College's Truax Campus along with
The classroom instruction portion of this training will be one afternoon per week from 5:30pm - 9:00pm

2. A paid internship where you will receive hands on experience for up to 27 hours per week.
The internship portion of this training will be 4 days per week between the hours of 9am-5pm

* ITCA and all Urban League services are FREE.

You will also receive job coaching, help making a resume for a construction job and learn the tricks of interviewing to make you a strong candidate for your new job in the construction industry.

Madison College:
To be able to enroll as a Madison College student you will have to meet the following admissions Requirements: be 18 years of age, can verify your high school education and pass Compass Assessments with a combined score of 225 or higher (Reading- 88, Math- 70, Writing- 65).

To be eligible for participation in an internship you will/may be required to: be 18 years of age or older, Have the ability to legally work in the US, have a high school education, possess the ability to pass a background check (* Some backgrounds may not be compatible with working in a call center, information sensitive or person to person interactive environments

To register for the Customer Service Training Program, complete this online forms which includes:
1. Your Urban League Membership Application
2. Complete an IT Career Academy Questionnaire
3. Submit your resume or complete the online Work History Form
4. Your Cover Letter explaining why you are a good candidate for the program

Someone from the Urban League will contact you to confirm that your application has been received. If enrollment is open for an upcoming Information and Technology Careers Academy, they will instruct you how to schedule your first interview and assessments. If there is not a current program, they will let you know when the next program is expected to begin, and add your name to the list of candidates who have completed applications to be contacted when enrollment for the next program opens.

The final step to be accepted into the Information and Technology Careers Academy is to attend an interview with a representative from one of the program’s employer partners. These interviews are scheduled before the program begins, and all individuals who have completed applications will be notified when final interviews will take place.

Please contact Melissa Herriges, the Information & Technology Careers Academy Program Manager, for current class schedules and upcoming program application deadlines. If a training program is not currently scheduled, your application will be kept on file and you will be added to a waitlist to be notified when the next training class is available. All training is free to those who qualify and are selected to participate in the program. Please be aware that spaces are limited. All candidates will follow the same screening procedure.
