Cost of Living Pledge
Base‐wage bargaining between the Madison Metropolitan School District and its employee representatives has reached an impasse (i.e. neither party is currently willing to amend their offer). Act 10 allows for collective bargaining on one issue only- base wages, and further limits base-wage increases to no more than the cost-of-living (determined to be 2.44% for this year).
MTI, and its partner Unions, are proposing a cost‐of‐living base‐wage increase for all employees (2.44%). The District is proposing to increase base‐wages by 2.32%, less than the cost-of-living
The MMSD Board of Education has now scheduled a meeting for Monday, September 9 for the BOE to discuss the status of negotiations and its direction to District negotiators.
Now is the time for MTI members, and all District employees, to speak up in support of their bargaining team and a cost-of-living (2.44%) base-wage increase for all employees.
