Classes: Birth Date

1. Senior Showmanship 16-19 years (age as of September 30, 2019)
2. Intermediate Showmanship 13-15 years (age as of September 30, 2019)
3. Junior Showmanship 9-12 years (age as of September 30, 2019)
4. Novice Showmanship 1st year showing cattle, 9 - 12 years old (age as of September 30, 2019)

5. Junior Heifer Calves Calved January 1- April 30, 2019
6. Senior Heifer Calves Calved September 1- December 31, 2018
7. Intermediate Yearling Heifers Calved May 1- August 31, 2018
8. Late Junior Yearling Heifers Calved March 1- April 30, 2018
9. Early Junior Yearling Heifers Calved January 1- February 28, 2018
10. Senior Yearling Heifers Calved September 1- December 31, 2017
11. Cow/Calf Pair Calf MUST be Bred and Owned by the Exhibitor, calved after 1/1/19
12. Grand Champion and Reserve Champion Breed Heifers
13. Supreme Grand Champion and Reserve Supreme Champion Heifers

14. Bulls

15. Feeder Steers (Weighing 999 pounds or less)

Rules

1. Registration paper must be available for all animals entered in breed shows. If no registration paper is available the animal will be places in commercial classes.
2. Classes for all Associated Breeds and Commercial.
3. A minimum of 6 cattle is required to hold a breed show. If the breed does not meet the minimum requirement, those heifers will be placed in All Other Registered Breeds.
4. Commercial Heifers will show in a separate class regardless of number of entries.
5. Fitting of breeding heifers in an ethical manner is allowed. Any animal fitted in an unethical way will be dismissed from the show grounds. Unethical fitting shall include (but not limited) the following:
a. Use of paints, paint products and colored adhesives or other fitting products are subject to breed association rules.
b. The addition of any hair or hair like substances, including false tail heads and false polls.
c. The cutting, tearing or gluing of the hide or underneath the hide or removal of tissue in an attempt to alter the shape of the animal.
d. The injection of any gas, solid or liquid under the hide to alter the normal conformation.
e. Any product/solutions/liquids administered internally or externally to alter the conformation of the animal is prohibited. This includes the use of steroids, growth promotants, and the act of artificially filling animals internally, which would include stomach pumping, drench tubes, or any other method.
f. Aerosol cans used for grooming are not permitted in show ring or make-up areas
6. Cattle must remain on exhibit until release time. If animal is removed from exhibit area prior to release, all premiums will be forfeited.
7. Exhibitors must show their own animal in showmanship. The animal must be entered in the beef show.
8. Steers will be shown by weight and will be weighed during check-in.
9. Entry fees of $10.00/hd should be mailed to VCE-Botetourt, PO Box 217 Fincastle, VA 24090, postmarked by August 2nd, 2019.
