#Care4MyCulture Story Collection
California must put cultural competence at the core of its public mental health services. With better data, better stakeholder engagement, and greater guidance/oversight, we can uplift the needs of communities of color and LGBTQ+ communities.

In effort to make this happen, Assembly Bill (AB) 512: Restoring Ethnic and Cultural Accountability in Public Mental Health Services was created. AB 512 seeks to honor the importance of cultural competence by clarifying guidelines, protocols and stakeholder engagement in California's public mental health system. It would also require counties, Department of Health Care Services (DHCS), and stakeholders to develop performance targets that reduce disparities and improve mental health equity.

We invite you to tell your story or a story on behalf of someone else as a way to inspire others and give them hope. We want to hear from you on how/why this bill will work and could work. These stories will help illustrate how real people in California's diverse communities have been impacted by the challenges of accessing quality mental health care and lack of culturally appropriate prevention and early intervention.

Your story is power.
