Ridgemen Organization Vision Statement: Developing college baseball players into complete athletes
* and improving their chances of getting drafted by Major League Baseball.
*To reach the highest levels of success in baseball and life, we focus on developing your body, mind and faith - Three Dimensional, Complete Athletes. We achieve this through daily sessions in the gym/baseball field with our coaches/trainers, weekly times in the classroom (with chaplains and business leaders) and monthly community events (Challenger Baseball, Little League clinics).
About Ridgemen: The Rochester Ridgemen compete in the New York Collegiate Baseball League. The NYCBL, founded in 1978, is a summer wood bat league sanctioned by the NCAA and partially funded by Major League Baseball. The league gives college players who have not yet signed a professional contract the opportunity to develop their skills at a higher level of play, gain experience with wood bats, and be evaluated by scouts. The NYCBL is located in scenic Upstate New York. We play our home games at Basket Road Field in Webster, NY. Our season is roughly 40 games plus the All-Star game and playoffs. We also schedule one home game at Innovative Field, a MiLB Triple-A stadium. As a bonus experience for the Ridgemen, we schedule day trips to Niagara Falls, Keuka Lake, a Rochester Red Wings game, and the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, NY.
Application & Selection Process: This application will ask you both baseball related and personal questions. We encourage you to answer all questions as honestly as possible. The information you provide will help determine how to best help you grow and develop into a complete athlete. Your answers will be kept confidential and only viewed by the Ridgemen General Manager, Mark Randall, and Ridgemen Head Coach, Thomas Eaton. You will be informed of our decision/selection on the team after we review your application and your references. If selected for the team roster, you will then be required to sign a Ridgemen Team Contract and a NYCBL Contract for the 2024 Summer Season.
Fees: After signing the NYCBL contract via Poinstreak, we will email you a payment plan for the player fees. Before you report to the team, you will be required to pay the full $1500 player fee. We will assist you as needed to fundraise this fee. The player fee covers your team gear, team dinners, transportation to away games, the bonus fun day trips, and more. Housing is provided free by generous host families. All funds collected are nonrefundable for any and all possible requests for a refund.
