Drop-In improv workshops at the M BAR (2025)
📣 Welcome to TEACUP IMPROV at the M BAR! Come practice improv on Wednesdays evenings in Downtown Montreal. Whether you're shy or outgoing, a novice or experienced, I happily offer you a place to unleash your imagination, take risks, and push your limits.

💡 On the program:
Create characters, develop your creativity, refine your ability to think quickly, and to listen decisively...
But also connect to the present moment, to others, and to your emotions.
Please consider this a friendly space to meet, play, team up, laugh, and grow together.

✊  WEDNESDAY NIGHT BARPROV at the M Bar (1245 rue St André):  Designed for those who want to sharpen their comedic timing and connect with others through humor, these classes emphasize strong listening, authenticity, adaptability, being brave, arguing well, getting comfortable with your ideas and your own self, spontaneous thinking and problem solving (or in fact, problem making), as well as developing your own personal and artistic voice. Whether you’re a novice or more experienced, you'll practice skills that will provide you the tools to help you stand out with wit and charisma.

Workshops from 6 to 7:30pm

The instructor, Ian:
😀 Playful, demanding, curious, and somewhat mischievous, I have been passionate about improv theatre since I started taking classes myself in 2015. Originally from Toronto, I have performed in a variety of theatres and festivals in Montreal, as well as the occasional commercial, stage production, and short film.
🤸 I have been teaching since 2021, and have established TEACUP IMPROV to bring theatre and comedy to communities of people who might not ordinarily be "comedy nerds", but can use the tools developed and refined through improv comedy to help develop confidence, creativity, work on developing key life skills, and empower themselves for the future. I offer training (communication, public speaking, adaptability...), team building for cohesion, and language facilitation in educational settings (improving fluency and getting students to practice their target languages...)

If you answered 'no' to the previous question, could you explain why?

Tell me more about yourself (if you'd like)
