Completing and submitting the information below indicates that your child will be participating in the 6th-8th Grade Middle School Choir for the 2024/2025 school year. We appreciate your support and commitment to ensuring a successful and enriching experience for your child.
To clarify the details of their involvement, the Middle School Choir will have rehearsals on Wednesday mornings from 7:15-7:55, and D and G Days from 12:10-12:40 pm (during recess). This is a change to our schedule from last year. No instructional or study hall time will be missed for rehearsals. This dedicated time will allow students to develop their vocal skills, create community, and contribute to their overall musical foundation. We will have a bagel/ donut breakfast rotation set up for our Wednesday morning rehearsals that parents may sign-up for. Our first rehearsal will be on the morning of Wednesday, September 11th (7:15 in the PAC), and we will continue with our D and G day school rehearsals from there.
Additionally, there will be several opportunities for the choir to perform, both on and off-campus for the community. In such instances, we may require parent volunteers to provide transportation. Your consent for your child to be driven by a parent volunteer is greatly appreciated and will help facilitate their involvement in these community performances.
Middle School Choir Performances include, but are not limited to:
* Singing for 2-3 schoolwide chapels throughout the school year
* December school field trip to Lakewood Retirement Community for caroling, followed by lunch out
* Caroling at the Annual St. Michael's Tree Lighting on the evening of December 12th
* Performing in the Festival of the Arts on the evening of Tuesday, May 13th
* Singing at Magic Dragon Day on Saturday, May 3rd
* Spring field trip TBD
Additionally, 7th and 8th grade choir students are able to audition for the Virginia District 1 Chorus. Students interested in auditioning will receive more information at a later time, but dates to note are:
District Auditions: Hermitage High School on November 9th (times TBD)
District Performance: for those selected, weekend of February 7th and 8th.
