Ontario Tech CRCEF Employment Equity Survey
You are being asked to complete this voluntary self-identification survey as you are a recipient of the Canada Research Continuity Emergency Fund (CRCEF) or a decision-maker for the disbursement of the fund. This is a temporary Tri-Agency programme to help sustain the research enterprise at Canadian universities that have been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

In managing CRCEF funding, Ontario Tech University must take measures to prevent systemic barriers that result in individuals from equity-seeking groups receiving unequal access to, or being excluded from participating in, employment, services, or programs in Canada’s research ecosystem. Equity-seeking groups include, but are not limited to, women, racialized minorities, Indigenous peoples, persons with disabilities and persons from LGBTQ2+ communities.

Permitted Use: Information obtained will be used in accordance with applicable laws and regulations for the sole purpose of enabling Ontario Tech University to satisfy the federal government’s funding requirements and to ameliorate disadvantages experienced by equity-seeking groups.  Information will not be used for any employment-related decisions including without limitation, salary, job assignments, recognition, transfers and promotions.

Confidentiality: Information collected on this form will only be accessible to authorized personnel in the Human Resources department responsible for managing regulatory compliance, including the university’s obligations in respect CRCEF Programme.

Managers/supervisors and selection committees will not have access to this form.  No personal information will be disclosed to any unauthorized personnel or third parties without the prior written consent of the respondent.

Collection: Information is collected under the authority of the University of Ontario Institute of Technology Act, S.O. 2002, c.8, Sch. O and will be collected, protected, used, disclosed and retained in compliance with Ontario’s Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, R.S.O. 1990, c. F.31.

Ontario Tech University Land Acknowledgement
Ontario Tech University acknowledges the lands and people of the Mississaugas of Scugog Island First Nation. We are thankful to be welcomed on these lands in friendship. The lands we are situated on are covered under the Williams Treaties and the traditional territory of the Mississauga, a branch of the greater Anishinaabeg Nation, including Algonquin, Ojibway, Odawa and Pottawatomi. These lands remain home to a number of Indigenous nations and people.

We acknowledge this land out of respect for the Indigenous nations who have cared for Turtle Island, also called North America, from before the arrival of settler peoples until this day. Most importantly, we remember the history of these lands has been tainted by poor treatment and a lack of friendship with the First Nations who call them home.

This history is something we are all affected by as we are all treaty people in Canada. We all have a shared history to reflect on, and each of us is affected by this history in different ways. Our past defines our present, but if we move forward as friends and allies, then it does not have to define our future.

We must examine and address discriminatory practices, policies and attitudes that constrain opportunity, innovation and achievement.
