Hello, I am Luke Ryerse, a senior Punter/Kicker at East Ridge High School. This will be my 4th year raising money and awareness to help the Randy Shaver Cancer Research and Community Fund. You have probably heard of Tackle Cancer football games across Minnesota, which also raise money for the Fund.
Two million people are diagnosed with cancer each year in the US, and 600,000 lose their lives. The best way to prevent cancer is to research its causes and stop it.
I am inviting you to join me in supporting cancer researchers, like these scientists who have been recipients of grants from the Fund! You may pledge a dollar amount
for each kick I make for East Ridge High School during the 2024 season and
playoffs. Options for how to donate include:
- A one-time, flat donation (for example, $90), or
- Donate for each kick made (most popular option!):
- $1 for every extra point made,
- $3 for every field goal made,
- $1 for every kickoff touchback, and
- $2 for very punt over 40 yards.
(Last year, the above pledge resulted in a $103 donation)
You may pick one or as many of the options listed above as you wish, or you could also cap it (for example, cap at $125). Yes, donations are tax deductible!
You don't need to pay anything now - I will track progress against your pledge and send an email at the end of the season with a final amount and instructions for making your donation online on the Fund's website.
