Awareness, knowledge and attitudes towards measures for prevention of the spread of Covid-19 in the Ugandan population: A Nationwide online cross-sectional study
Uganda registered her first case of COVID-19 on Saturday 21st March, 2020. As of 18th April 2020, the country has 55 confirmed cases of COVID-19. These cases are admitted in Entebbe Grade B hospital, Mulago National Specialized Hospital, Adjuman and Hoima Hospitals.
The disease was declared a pandemic by WHO on 11th March, 2020 due to the worldwide spreading of the disease.  Uganda has taken a number of measures spear headed by the His Excellency the president since 18th March, 2020. Educational institutions were closed, suspended communal prayers and gatherings and on 1st April, 2020 a lockdown down was declared for 14 days and this was extended for another 21 days on 14th April, 2020.
To control the pandemic of the coronavirus disease and enhance risk management, the Ugandan population need to be aware of the disease to avoid wide spread in the communities.
Therefore, this study aims at assessing the awareness of the population of Uganda specifically on knowledge, attitude and behavior on prevention of COVID-19.
Your participation in the survey will help us to achieve the study objectives and help the country enhance risk communication and stop the spread COVID-19. It should not take more than 10 minutes of your time to answer the questions.
Note
Please note that participation in this survey is voluntary, you can withdraw by cancelling any time and they will not be any repercussion. No names or sensitive information will be required from the participant. The information obtained will be stored anonymously and treated confidentially. It will be used to explore and understand the awareness, knowledge and attitudes of Ugandans on prevention of COVID-19.
There is no risk associated with this survey, as we will not meet you in person and no names, contact information or biological samples will be obtained from the participants.
