Welcome, and thank you for your interest in beta reading  This is a middle-grade to YA adventure story. It takes place in the late 19th century in the rural south. The story follows two young African-American boys who go on an adventure to find the secrets that have been hidden from them. Their journey involves many trials and tribulations. Meeting friends and foes along the way.  Filled with excitement, risk, and the beauty of an unbreakable friendship, P.B. and Roscoe is a touching tale about the power of choosing your own path—and the family you find along the way.

The story as in its current for sits at 60,000 words, with around 4k per chapter. I am looking for beta readers to look for plot holes, pacing, character development etc. I am hoping after hearing from several readers my next edits will have it sitting around 80k.
