Members of Bristol University AGAINST Rent Increases
Over the last budget setting cycle the University has decided to put rent up in their owned accommodation by 4-5%.

This year the new vice-chancellor has commissioned a new strategy to be developed, and within that consultation process widening participation and diversifying the student body has been prominent, and clearly important to a lot of members of the University.

We believe that claiming widening participation is a key priority, yet still increasing rents and pricing out poorer students is unacceptable and we, the officers of the Students' Union, deem this unacceptable.

So what have we done?

- Used every committee meeting and forum we had access to to raise our concerns.
- Written a blog illustrating our concerns.
- Met with key members of the University, who hold the budgets, and set the budgets.
- Written to the Vice-chancellor.
