Date: Saturday, December 7th
Event Time: 1:00pm – 3:00pm
Location: Q300 Lower Division Cafeteria - 28-37 29th Street
Objective: The goal of this event is three-fold, serving as a community builder which highlights the importance of literacy and access to books, sustainability, and fostering social emotional wellness.
Book Swap: Families will be invited to bring unwanted books for donation. Everyone will have the opportunity to “shop” for books and take as many as they’d like for free.
Game Day: An assortment of age-appropriate board games will be placed on tables for students to play, socialize and engage during the event.
This event provides an opportunity for Q300 families to gather indoors to donate and “shop” for books, since the Book Swap was not able to take place last school year. The swap will help foster community by giving students the chance to share their well-loved books with their peers. Promote sustainability by keeping these books in rotation and out of landfills. Hosting this event in December allows students to gather with their classmates during the winter when access to free space for indoor playdates is very hard to come by, and offers them the chance to socialize ahead of the holidays and school break. It will also help to ensure students have access to books at home ahead of the winter recess.
The event is FREE for all Q300 students and their immediate families, but registration is required for capacity tracking.
Beverages will be available for purchase $1 each.
PTA Raffle: The PTA may host a raffle. Raffle tickets will be available for purchase at the event $5 each or 5 tickets for $20.
4th Grade Fundraiser: The 4th Graders will be hosting a bake sale to sell sweet treats, along with an assortment of tchotchkes like keychains, and ornaments.
8th Grade Fundraiser: The 8th Graders my also host a fundraising activity to help with their graduation related costs.
