2019 Staff Application

There are several opportunities to serve here for the summer. The following are available to apply for and will be described below.

(The job descriptions below are merely meant to give an applicant an impression of their duties for each role. They are not fully detailed or exhaustive. They also may be subject to change without notice.)

A Cabin Counselor at Camp JIM is to follow Jesus Christ so that the campers who are put in their counsel will see Christ through them. They are responsible for taking care of the campers in their cabin (6-8 campers/week). The counselor will spend one-on-one time with each camper and look after the physical and spiritual needs of each camper. The counselor is responsible for leading daily devotions for their cabin, maintaining proper discipline, and overseeing proper cabin cleaning throughout the week. The counselor is expected to lead a skills class, attend regular counselor meetings, and be flexible. Counselors have a unique opportunity to mentor select D.I.T.'s "Disciples In Training" throughout the summer, helping them grown in their leadership abilities and in their walk with Christ. All staff are expected to work together to clean camp at the end of each week.

A DIT Coordinator at Camp JIM is the hands on supervisor to our youth volunteers who are accepted into the Disciple in Training Program (DIT). First and foremost demonstrating a heart after God and a heart for serving others. They are responsible for coordinating their scheduling, training, and other logistics. Traditionally, this role has also been a parental figure to the youth age volunteers. More officially this role is essentially a human resources director which as working with youth whom might be experiencing this as their first pseudo job can be challenging yet rewarding.

As Head Cook at Camp JIM you will be in charge of meals in terms of safety, quality, timeliness, and quantity as well sharing the responsibility of supervising the other kitchen staff. In other words the person in this position will have to make sure that the food is handled safely, whether that be cooking temps, holding temps, proper preparation conditions etc., While a food safety certificate is not required and it will still be the responsibility to follow the guidelines laid out by the food service director to assure that our guest are given food that is safe for them to eat. Also, make sure recipes are followed and what can be done to assure the best quality food we can provide is what is served. Another goal is making sure we balance the right amount of quantity of foods so that everyone is given the chance the enjoy what is on the menu while also minimizing food waste. Another aspect in planning and working to make sure food is done on time so that it does not cause delays in other programmed activities and also so that it can be as fresh as possible. Another part of this position is training, and supervising staff and volunteers working in the kitchen. Those applying for this position may be subject to further in depth application and interview.

The Assistant Cook at Camp JIM is then the person who will assist the head cook in these duties. This includes but is not limited to taking on all of the duties listed above for one meal day and maybe more if the Those applying for this position may be subject to further in depth application and interview.situation presents itself. The Media Assistant works alongside the Marketing Director. They are responsible for photographing and\or videotaping all camp activities and editing those photos/ video to be in the media packs. They will also post to multiple social media platforms daily. Another opportunity for this person will be stage design and set up. They must have a working knowledge of Adobe Photoshop, Premier Pro and Lightroom and be able to operate photographic gear (DSLR Camera) efficiently.

The Administrative Intern is essentially the summer registrar. Some of your responsibilities would include answering and directing phone calls, entering registration information, checking in campers, and other administrative roles. This person will be responsible to rerouting info to proper channels. As with any administrative type role skills and experience with computers and office software will be helpful. The Maintenance Intern is the assistant to the Maintenance Director. This person will help with grounds keeping (mowing, trimming, trash removal, etc.,), building maintenance (painting, light bulb replacement, other small repairs,), and maybe called on to help with other maintenance related tasks as well as other tasks for other departments as needed.
