Minimum Requirements
Be age 15 by the last class in this session.
Pass the swim pre-test: swim 200 yards (crawl stroke/freestyle and/or breaststroke) 150 yards, tread water 2 minutes using no hands then finish with 50 yards; swim 20 yards to retrieve a 10-pound brick from the deep end and swim back holding brick at surface level with both hands in under 1 minute 30 seconds.
Attend all in-person sessions: Lifeguards must show maturity in decisions and responsibility in actions. All classes must be attended and lifeguard candidates must be prepared for each session.
Pass the written test with 80% or better: One of the written tests is included in the online portion, the other is taken after the completion of the in-person water test. Only two chances to pass this test are allowed. A study guide is available.
Pass the in-water scenario tests: Each scenario must be passed in order to pass the lifeguard training course. Two attempts are allowed for each scenario.
I have read and understand the requirements for passing this certification class.
