09.00 - 10.15 Doune Castle- is Castle Leoch in Outlander- Monty Python and other movies filmed here as well (castle opens at 09.30 but they could take photos of exterior and explore town before then)----***Interior tour***
12.15 - 12.30 Glencoe photo stop
Glencoe was used as the location around Hogwarts including the standing stones and Hagrid's hut in the Prisoner of Azkaban. Glennfinnan was used as the CGI backdrop for Hogwarts. The train scenes were filmed using the Fort William to Mallaig line including the Glenfinnan Viaduct, Glen Nevis is used for Quidditch aerial shots
It's mentioned in the book but doesn't play a big part. There's something haunting and magical about that mountain pass. Glencoe, mentioned in the books and today better known, at least to well-read fans of cable television, as the site of the real-life massacre that inspired the Red Wedding from "Game of Thrones."
14.10 - 16.00 train ride Mallaig - Fort William - Where Jamie is held prisoner (need to get lunch on the train)-Inspiration for the Harry Potter train/ used for aerial shots
18.00 - 18.20 Pitlochry tea stop
20.00 Arrive back Edinburgh
