 Fire District 3 Video Contest - #FD3firesafety
October is nationally recognized as 2023's “ Fire Prevention Month”.  Historically within fire departments across the United States, this month has been committed to the fire safety education of communities served. Fire District 3 values the importance of fire prevention education and is dedicated to teaching our community about life safety. That is why in the spirit of the national “Fire Prevention Month”, Fire District 3 is enthusiastic to announce it's annual fire safety video contest! Students will be expected to research the fire safety topics listed below and creatively construct a fire safety video that depicts them carrying out these practices correctly. It can be made with your phone, video camera, computer, I-Pad, or any other means available! We look forward to seeing your amazing entries! Good luck!

*CONTEST DEADLINE: November 29th, 2023*

RULES FOR VIDEO SUBMISSIONS:

You must be a resident living within the Fire District 3 service area and between the ages 5 to 18 (K-12th grade). To enter, record and upload a video (90-seconds max) depicting you demonstrating proper fire safety practices of at least one of the following topics:

1. Home Evacuation Plans
2. Smoke Detectors
3. Carbon Monoxide Detectors
4. National Top Causes Of House Fires: Cooking, Candles, Heating, Electrical

Students with social media accounts shall upload their video to a choice of at least one of the listed social media platforms: Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, Tik Tok, or Twitter. When posting videos via social media, participants must tag Fire District 3 with the corresponding handles listed below and use the hashtag #FD3firesafety within the video description.

If you do not have social media accounts to post your video, utilize the website www.WeTransfer.com to upload your video, sending it to the email "zanenorris@fire3.org" via the "send email transfer" option.
No subscription to "WeTransfer" is required to accomplish this task. It is free!

Not having a social media account will not impact your ability to win this contest.

By submitting a video and e-signing the form, contestants of legal age (over 18) or parent/guardians of those under 18 give consent for the videos to be used by Fire District 3 (FD3) and all FD3 approved affiliates through digital media channels (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, ect.), our website www.fire3.org, and FD3 related presentations. Only one video submission per person will be allowed. For safety reasons, NO ACTUAL FIRE OR SMOKE shall be used while filming for this video contest. All video submissions that include these will be immediately disqualified upon reviewal.

Winners will be determined by committee, based on the following criteria:
- Proper Fire Safety Techniques
- Video/Sound Quality
- Creativity
- Editing
- Following Directions
- Appropriateness

Winner Categories By Grade:
- (1 Winner) Kindergarten - Fourth Grade: $50.00
- (1 Winner) Fifth Grade - Eight Grade: $100.00
- (1 Winner) Ninth Grade - Twelfth Grade: $150.00    

All overall selected winners will be contacted within 3 weeks from the contest conclusion date of 11/29/2023 by the email and/or contact number provided by you below.
