Thank you for your interest in the Black Social Work Caucus. We are looking for motivated, hard working students, who will dedicate some of their time to participate in events and community service activities, along with building solidarity amongst the students of USC. Join us and support the Black Caucus initiative, which will address contemporary issues in the African American community and Social Work profession. All positions require a 2 semester commitment, availability for Board meetings, and other duties as required by the caucus.

CO ‐ CHAIR ( 2 positions available)
Co‐Chairs shall have the following duties:
● To call and preside at all meetings of the Black Social Work Caucus.
● To facilitate and initiate roles and responsibilities to all Black Social Work
Caucus executive board members.
● To serve as the official contact person will all school officials, organizations,
agencies, and businesses.
● To promote the Black Social Work Caucus interest within USC’s School of Social
Work
● To write and issue Black Social Work Caucus checks in the absences of the Treasurer
● To create, organize and participate in activities of BSWC
COMMUNITY OUTREACH REPRESENTATIVE
The Community Outreach Representative(s) shall have the following duties:
● To attend Black Social Work Caucus meetings in order to represent the interest
of the Black Social Work Caucus.
● To plan, organize and coordinate community programs/activities for the
purposes of outreach and providing specific services for the BSWC and the
surrounding community. Responsibilities that accompany this position include:
● To develop and strengthen the understanding of issues which impact members
of the BSWC and the community (services needed, opportunities for assistance)
● To increase membership and awareness of BSWC members through recruitment
of volunteers
● To collaborate with other caucuses and organizations in service activities in
benefit to BSWC and the Black Community
● To respond to inquiries and requests by email, phone call, etc., in a timely
manner
● To create, organize and participate in activities of BSWC
PROGRAMMING REPRESENTATIVE
The Event Coordinator shall have the following duties:
● To attend Black Social Work Caucus meetings in order to represent the interest
of the Black Social Work Caucus.
● To coordinate details of events by using the Event Planning template and
adhering to Caucus budget (logistical details) with assistance of Co‐Chairs
❏ Venue space, vendors, special guests/VIPs, promotional materials, etc.
● To initiate, coordinate, or participate in all efforts to publicize events
● To coordinate and monitor event timelines and ensure that deadlines are met.
● To create, organize and participate in activities of BSWC
FIRST YEAR REPRESENTATIVE -
The First Year Representative shall have the following duties:
● To attend executive board meeting of BSWC in order to represent the interest of the BSWC.
● To respond to the concerns of first year students and advocate on their behalf to the BSWC, to increase membership and awareness of BSWC and its events
● To create, organize and participate in activities of BSWC
● To respond to inquiries and request by email, phone call, etc., in a timely manner
SOCIAL MEDIA & MARKETING REPRESENTATIVE
The Marketing Representative shall have the following duties:
● To maintain Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter accounts
● To create flyers for events, publicity and public announcements
● To advertise to outside organizations, caucuses, and agencies
● To respond to the reviews by co chairs, secretary, and faculty advisor
● To create and email monthly newsletters to caucus subscribers, members, and board executive officers
● To collaborate with representatives from partnerships, organizations, and agencies to publish for advertisement purposes
SECREATARY
The secretaries shall have the following duties:
● To keep official minutes of the organization.
● To record all minutes from Meetings with the Faculty Advisors.
● To distribute minutes to all members of the Black Social Work Caucus at
regular bi‐weekly meetings and via electronic e‐mail.
● To respond to inquiries and request by email, phone call, etc., in a timely
manner
STUDENT ORGANIZATION REPRESENTATIVE
The Student Org Representative shall have the following duties:
● To attend Black Social Work Caucus meetings in order to represent the interest
of the Black Social Work Caucus.
● To attend Student Organization events and report back to the BSWC Board.
● To establish links and networks with Social Work Student Organization Officers
for possible collaboration of projects and sponsors.
TREASURER
The Treasurer shall have the following duties:
● To maintain the funds of this organization.
● To maintain records of all money transactions in the Black Social Work Caucus
logbook.
● To keep accurate and up‐to‐date files on the Black Social Work Caucus bank
account status.
● To inform the Board of Directors of account and money status.
● S/He/They will be authorized to write and issue Black Social Work Caucus checks for all
events
VIRTUAL ACADEMIC CENTER REPRESENTATIVE(S)
The VAC Representative shall have the following duties:
● To attend/facilitate (virtually) attend Black Social Work Caucus meetings in
order to represent the interest of the Black Social Work Caucus at USC School of Social Work (set‐up recordings/live streams/utilizing virtual classrooms highly encouraged)
● To connect with VAC caucus leaders and VAC student org members to keep them informed on BSWC events, needs, opportunities for collaboration
