Dear Parent/Guardian,
We are excited to train our incoming 4th and 5th graders for Safety Patrol! This is a fantastic leadership opportunity where students assist with arrival and dismissal, help raise and lower the flag, and promote safety and responsibility within our school.
Safety Patrol ScheduleThe schedule will depend on how many students sign up. In past years, students worked:
- One day per week
- One week per month
- Every other week (alternating schedule)
This year, Safety Patrol members will follow an alternating weekly schedule, working each school day every other week. A note with your child’s training days will be emailed and sent home.
Qualifications & ExpectationsTo participate, students must:
✅ Commit for the entire school year
✅ Maintain passing grades and demonstrate good leadership
✅ Have parent/guardian approval and support
✅ Receive approval from Safety Patrol directors and teachers
✅ Be punctual and follow all safety rules
✅ Be available one day a week or every other week for morning (7:15–7:30 AM) or afternoon (2:50–3:15 PM) duty
✅ Communicate politely and cheerfully with students and adults
✅ Serve as positive role models
✅ Report any safety concerns to the teacher on duty
Failure to meet these expectations may result in removal from Safety Patrol. If a student wishes to resign, we require a written request from both the student and parent/guardian.
