Gender Expansive Youth Program (YWCA Cambridge)
PROGAM UPDATE (as of 12/12/22):

We are going to meet virtually online again starting on January 4th, 2023 from 5 - 7 pm on Wednesdays. And, we will still have a few fun in person events in the winter and spring!! We are going to keep meeting every Wednesday until May or June 2023.  We can't wait to meet you!! 

Welcome! We are excited to be hosting this Gender Expansive Youth group for the 2022-2023 school year. In this space, youth will determine what this group and community can and will become. This program is for middle and high school students in Cambridge, Boston, and the surrounding areas who are interested in talking about gender, media, LGBTQ history, ant-racism, and more. 

Meet the staff leaders!

Hello, my name is Puja (he/him), and I lead the Youth Programs at YWCA Cambridge. I have worked with youth leadership and social justice programs for over seven years. Growing up in a mostly white town, I had a hard time connecting with peers my age and I always felt out of place. I am a big Stars Wars fan, I love to cook and hang out with fluffy dogs. I identity as a trans and gender queer.

Hi, my name is Georgia (they/them) and I develop and facilitate the youth leadership programs. I believe that youth are experts in their own experiences and I strive to create spaces for youth self-determination and advocacy. I've been a fan of deconstructing gender since I was a small child but didn't find the language to describe my experiences until adulthood! For fun I have been growing avocado pits into plants, I currently have nine growing around my home.

Who is someone you admire and why? ( I, Georgia, admire Indya Moore who is on the Netflix show Pose and is also a social activist for trans liberation and racial justice. They bring up complex issues and they are one of the first famous non-binary people I ever saw in media. Also I admire my dad, who stayed home to take care of me and my younger siblings and defies gender norms in his work!) *
