What if I'm not sure but I'm curious?
Readers are often folks who have never been on a mic before, and many have never "written" before. Many folks already have a message in mind, while many use this as a prompt - a chance to get something off their chest , or just a chance to have some fun and take a risk!
Whatever you want to share is what we need to hear. This is more of a share than a performance. You've got this! Check us out on IG @unsentshow to get a taste of past shows.
What if I need support?
Britt your host is here to help! She's a writer, life review interviewer (doula), musician and filmmaker, and she is here for you. It is her joy to support readers through the process of writing and preparing their letters for the stage. She can read drafts, suggest edits and even rehearse with you! Whatever support and encouragement you need, she will provide. Listen to our Unsent Show Podcast for examples and inspiration!
When do I find out if I was selected to read?
We will confirm your status 4 weeks prior to the show you applied for. If you are selected you will receive your Confirmed Reader Form with mandatory agreements and key dates for us to receive your materials and drafts of your unsent as we approach showtime.
If you are not selected, you are invited as our guest (free) to the show you applied for, and you are invited to send us a voice memo of your unsent that we will air on our Unsent Show Podcast. You are always welcome to join the waitlist and/or apply for any other show.
What happens the night of the show?
You will show up by 6:30pm to meet Britt and the other readers that night. Grab your seats, food, drinks and have a reader huddle. You'll find our your place in the line up at this time. We'll record the audio and video for the show - you'll let us know if you prefer not to be recorded. You get up, share your message, the audience goes wild for you, and you feel empowered, relieved and connected - and maybe even dance with us!
What else should I know?
We have a microphone on a mic stand for you on a small stage area. You can read your message from your phone, or print it out. Do what works best for you. No need to memorize at all. Note there is no music stand/podium to place your papers on. Your ticket will be comped (plus one) and your names will be at the door. No reserved seating. Audience members (anywhere from 75-150 ppl) will be sitting on couches and chairs surrounding the stage. Unsent audiences are the best - super supportive, loving and attentive. We promise!
