Empowering Women: A Holistic Approach to Health and Well-being

The empowerment of women still stands as a crucial aim, intricately intertwined with numerous facets of societal progress, including health and well-being. Recognizing that women often bear the brunt of health disparities and face unique challenges, adopting a holistic approach becomes imperative. This approach encompasses not only physical health but also mental, emotional, and social well-being, acknowledging the intricate interplay between these dimensions. By addressing the multifaceted nature of women's health, we can better understand and confront issues such as gender-based violence, reproductive health rights, access to healthcare, the impact of gender and socio-economic factors on well-being, and the burden of diseases such as cancer, including breast cancer. Unequal treatment of women and men has negative health consequences and is discriminatory in many instances. Health services and aftercare need to take into account the gender dimension to fully meet women’s needs. Empowering women in this holistic sense involves fostering environments where women have agency over their bodies, access to comprehensive healthcare services, and the resources necessary to lead fulfilling lives.

The event focuses on issues relating to women's health including breast cancer, gynecological health, mental health, sexual and reproductive rights as well as the gender dimension in Health. By convening stakeholders from across sectors, including policymakers, healthcare professionals and activists, we aim to raise awareness towards inclusive policies and practices. This entails not only addressing immediate health concerns but also dismantling systemic barriers that perpetuate inequalities, including disparities in cancer prevention, screening, treatment, and survivorship. By amplifying women's voices and experiences, advocating for gender-sensitive healthcare policies, and investing in programs that promote holistic well-being and cancer awareness, we strive towards a future where every woman can thrive with dignity and autonomy.

The event is organised with the support of the Left Group.
