    IMPORTANCE OF GPA (Grade Point Average)

    Understanding the purpose of your GPA, how to calculate your GPA, how your GPA affects your financial aid status. and a discussion on WHY your GPA DOES MATTER!

    STOP PROCRASTINATING!

    Students will learn the meaning of Procrastination, identify and describe the 3 basic types of procrastinators, and learn some helpful tips on how to overcome PROCRASTINATION.

    STAYING ON TOP OF IT ALL.....SUCCESSFUL STUDENT!

    Learn the 8 cornerstones of High Performance, to include discussions about their attitude, educational and career vision, self-management skills, and fundamental skills, which will lead them on their journey to become successful students.

    TEST TAKING STRATEGIES

    Students will learn the 3 phases of preparation for exams, time-tested tips, time management tips and test taking strategies.

    WHAT IS PLAGIARISM?

    Define plagiarism. The importance of why students need to know how plagiarism can affect them. Students will learn WHY they plagiarize. Identify materials they can legally cite. How to use the information they gained. Helpful tips on how to avoid PLAGIARISM.

    HOW DO I PREPARE FOR MY EXAMS?

    Students will get practical tips on how to prepare for college exams, test preparation techniques, how to anticpate what will be on the exam, identify their Learning Style, and some effective study strategies.

    FINISH STRONG, THE POWER OF ATTITUDE

    Students will identify how their purpose, passion, goals, courage and staying positive will bring out their best traits and lead them to being a successful student. Students will also run through practical exercises and identify: Why MY Attitude is so important?

    TAME THE FRENZY/TEST ANXIETY

    Students will learn how to identify triggers of anxiety specifically with taking tests, and learn the causes of test anxiety and how to deal with it. Students will also be provided with helpful tips to reduce and control stress and test anxiety. Students will enjoy learning relaxation techniques through guided imagery.

    MAXIMIZING THINKING, LISTENING AND MEMORY SKILLS

    Students will learn how to develop SMART habits, understand how thinking works and learn strategies to improve listening and memory skills.Students will learn elements of effective thinking and listening strategies, 3 basic active listening skills, and some practical memory techniques for students.

    ENHANCING YOUR STUDY SKILLS AND NOTE TAKING ABILITIES

    Students will obtain techniques on getting the most out of their study time, and learn key items for developing a study plan. Learn note taking methods, identify and understand the importance of Study Styles, and the 5R's of note taking.

    SADNESS, BLUES, DEPRESSION...WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE?

    Participants will be introduced to feeling identification exercises, be taught how to recognize the difference and when/how to seek help from family, friends and/or counselors. Additionally, tips for developing healthy coping skills will be provided.

    HEALTHY RELATIONSHIPS

    Participants will be taught how to work toward fostering healthy relationships that contribute to feels of self-worth, become aware of how peers and the media influence one's feelings and attitudes while learning to think independently.

    STRESS MANAGEMENT AND RELAXATION TECHNIQUES

    Participants will become familiarized with the concepts that define positive and negative stress. They will experience some relaxation techniques that can be used anywhere and produce fast stress relief.
