Want to get involved with Sydney Outfielders without playing in the competition?

We’re seeking expressions of interest from people who would like to join our Game Officials team for the 2026/27 season, either as a Game Umpire or a Base & Line Official.

Officiating is a great way to be part of the game, meet people and contribute to the Sydney Outfielders community without joining a playing roster. You don’t need previous softball umpiring or officiating experience — training, guidance and ongoing support will be provided.

Our Tuesday night competition runs from October 2026 to March 2027, including 13 round-robin rounds followed by finals.

Who are we looking for?

You don’t need to be a softball expert.

We’re looking for people who are:

• Reliable and able to make a regular commitment to Tuesday evenings
• Willing to learn
• Comfortable communicating with players and other officials
• Able to make fair and impartial decisions
• Supportive of a respectful, safe and inclusive sporting environment
• Interested in becoming part of the Sydney Outfielders community

To maintain fairness and impartiality, people making a regular commitment as part of the Game Officials team will not also play in the Sydney Outfielders Tuesday competition during the 2026/27 season.

In recognition of that commitment, selected Game Officials will receive complimentary Sydney Outfielders membership for the 2026/27 season, with no membership fee required plus their uniform free of charge.
