Category Descriptions:

William R. Testa Distinguished Service Award – recognizes those who make an impactful change in the lives of many and acknowledges a life of service and selfless dedication to the mission of ArcMorris.
Last recipient: Joseph Brigida (Merrill) (2025)

Volunteer of the Year – recognizes volunteers who give generously of their time and talents to accomplish the mission of ArcMorris. *Cannot have received remuneration for his/her service.

Teacher of the Year – recognizes a classroom teacher who has demonstrated excellence in teaching students with I/DD during the year the award is given.

Professional of the Year – recognizes an individual employed in a community intellectual disability service program who has demonstrated sensitivity and the ability to provide outstanding quality that results in increased independence for people with intellectual disabilities.

Distinguished Community Service Award – to recognize a volunteer organization, which has performed an outstanding service on behalf of people with I/DD in Morris County.

Media Excellence Award – recognizes outstanding community media reporting that created better understanding of I/DD and individuals affected by it. *Must have been broadcast or published during the last twelve-month period ending March 31, 2026.

Healthcare Professional Award – recognizes medical or dental professionals with exceptional records of providing health or dental care service to people with I/DD.
Last recipient: Kelly Berman (KidTherapy) (2025)

Employer of the Year – to confer recognition each year on those employers in businesses, industry, and government with exceptional records of providing competitive employment opportunities for workers with I/DD in Morris County.

Bill Sackter Citizenship Award – recognizes an individual with I/DD who is an achieving, integrated member of his or her community. Priority will be given to an individual who has overcome adversity and accomplished beyond expectations.

Ability Through Art Award – recognizes an individual who has demonstrated a propensity for inspiring and drawing out the artistic creativity of individuals with I/DD.
