Memoir Writing Workshop - Spring 2014 - Application for New Participants
Our Memoir Writing Workshop is an eight-week long writing course for individuals with experience in the sex trades. The workshop is intended for both experienced and first-time writers and will cover the fundamentals of memoir writing. Writers who would like to work on shorter pieces or who have a longer work in progress are welcome to participate. Workshop participants will have the opportunity to be published in Issue 4 of our literary journal, Prose & Lore, and will be invited to participate in a Page to Stage workshop as well as in a public reading celebrating the writers.

Classes will meet for three hours, weekly, on Monday evenings from 6:30 to 9:30 pm starting March 3 and concluding April 28 (with no class on March 24) at the New School in Manhattan (exact address will be made available to accepted participants).
The class is FREE to all participants. If you want to try out the class before committing, we are offering drop-in sessions on February 3 and February 17. We will limit the class size to 12 participants, including both new participants and returning students.

Along with your completed application form, we suggest that you submit a writing sample, which should be 1 to 3 pages of memoir writing (typed or clearly handwritten). No poetry, no political essays, no erotica. Blog posts are fine. Writing sample does not need to relate to your experience in the sex trades. If you don’t have a writing sample you are excited about or feel confident about, please write 1 page with the prompt “once I was… now I am…”

You can send your writing sample to workshops@redumbrellaproject.org

Completed applications are due at 10 PM on Monday, February 17.
