The Newark community faces a challenge. As you probably know, plans are afoot to build a 279MW natural gas power plant on STAR Campus at UD's main campus in Newark. This project would have grave consequences for the health and well-being of UD students and Newark residents alike. See the UD Students for Clean Air whiteboard video to learn more at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tc6eyX9t2G0.
Please consider joining Newark Residents Against the Power Plant, the Sierra Club, student groups and other concerned Delawareans on Saturdays April 19th, UD's Decision Days. On Decision Day, prospective students accepted into UD are given a tour of the campus and learn about the university's "clean, green campus".
Residents will hold informative signs & banners while students hand out flyers around campus. Our goals are to ensure that prospective students have a chance to make an informed choice about UD & to continue to leverage faculty, student and prospective student pressure to get UD to reconsider this ill-advised power plant (like Rowan University did: http://www.delawareonline.com/story/news/local/2014/04/12/ud-touts-data-center-rejected-rowan/7652383/).
If you are on board to fight for a clean Newark, fill out this form, and the demonstration organizers will be in touch with you.
