2025-2026 (Dryden PTA) Gauging Volunteer Interest
Hello Dryden Families,

Volunteering is one of the best ways to get involved in the Dryden community! Below you'll find the chance to let us know which events and volunteer roles you're interested in for the next school-year. You can check as many of the opportunities listed below as you wish. 

This form does not guarantee that you get each position you mark off as interested. Some positions may already be filled or there may be multiple parents interested in the same role. If you are already confirmed for a Chair position next year, your answers on this form do not impact that commitment. Some positions may already be filled (e.g. by a returning chair/parent volunteer) and other's may be vacant with multiple interested parties. Regardless, your answers will help us plan and find you a perfect role for the 2025-2026 school year. 

*THIS IS NOT A SIGN-UP FORM. Your responses will be reviewed by executive PTA officers and passed along to the appropriate PTA Vice President(s). You may be contacted later in the year about specific roles you checked off. Many of the events will have official volunteer sign-up forms released throughout the year - so look out for those next year as well. Thank you for being generous with your time and talents!

General descriptions of each role are as follows:
  • CHAIR (person to lead the event, with support from the Executive Board),
  • CO-CHAIR (person who will share leadership duties with another Chair; this role could also serve as the Chair's "shadow" in order to optimize continuity for the following year) or 
  • VOLUNTEER (person who will assist with, but NOT lead the event).

**Please note: there will be a separate signup form sent out for ROOM REPRESENTATIVES once classroom assignments have been announced in August. In addition, the 5TH GRADE EVENTS volunteer sign-up form has been sent separately.

AppleCore
Provide support for the classroom teachers through administrative tasks including: copying, cutting, collating, setting up bulletin boards, etc. AppleCore meets thoughout the school year at Dryden, materials are provided. Chair will coordinate/schedule AppleCore volunteers, as needed; volunteers will come at scheduled time and complete tasks.
Assemblies
Put on an assembly performance at Dryden school. Work with a vendor and coordinate with school administration to create an exciting and interactive experience for the students during a school day.
Birthday Books
Volunteers will help distribute Birthday Books to students. Typically this occurs monthly during the lunch hour at Dryden.
Book Club
Volunteers will attend the lunchtime Book Club sessions and lead the small groups of children (grouped by grade). Book Club typically meets around 4 times in January-February.
Book Fair
Volunteers will assist at shifts of the school book fair where they will help out with tasks including: assisting children with purchases, running the register, organizing books, etc. Volunteers will contacted closer to the Book Fair to sign up for specific shifts. Typically Book Fair occurs in January or February.
Bulletin Board
Show off your creative side by decorating the bulleting boards in Dryden a few times throughout the year. Chair will coordinate with PTA board to develp designs.
Chess Club
Volunteers will assist as needed with Chess Club. Chess Club meets during the lunch hour at Dryden several times during the year.
Dine Outs
Organize fundraisers for families to dine out at local restaurants. One each month.
End of Year Treat

Coordinate a special treat to commemorate the school year for all students. The chair will be responsible for selecting the vendor/treat and coordinating with the school to schedule the event day/time. Typically this event occurs the last week of school.

Event Photography
Chair will attend PTA events and take photographs which may be used for the Yearbook and other PTA purposes. This Chair is not expected to attend all events, but will coordinate with the existing co-chair to make sure events are covered.
Family Dance 
Chair(s) will help plan and execute the event. Volunteers will help day-of with decor, check-in, crafts, food, entertainment, clean up and other general needs. 
Field Day
Planning begins in April and the event occurs on the last day of School. Everybody loves field day. 
Frisbee Club
Chair will organize several meetings of the newly returning Frisbee Club during the Spring, and publicize and supervise meetings. Volunteers will assist during meeting times.
Fund the 'Phin Annual Fundraiser
Work with Ways and Means VPs to create communications and marketing plans for Dryden PTA's annual fundraiser. This fundraiser is a request for donations from PTA members, there are no sales/activties involved.
High School Liason
High School Liason is aware of the high school calendar and events; PTA chairs can check in with the Liason if they have questions about their event that invove the local high schools.
High School Senior Walk the Halls
Celebrate former Dryden Dolphins who are graduating from high school. Chair will help coordinate a small celebration at the end of a school day in May for graduating seniors to return and 'walk the halls.'
Ice Cream Social
Volunteers assist the co-chairs during the Ice Cream Social which occurs in the evening just prior to the start of the school year.
Involvement Chair (*NEW POSITION)
Help recruit, mobilize, engage, and recognize volunteers across all levels of the Dryden PTA organization.

K-4: Activity Nights
Co-Chairs will develop this new Dryden PTA event. An activity night will be planned and held seperately by grade for students in K, 1st, 2nd and 3rd grade. In addition to planning, co-chairs will coordinate volutneers. Volunteers will help the night of the event.
Kindergarten Meet and Greet
Volunteers assist the chair during the evening of the Kindergarten Meet and Greet, just prior to the start of the school year. Volunteers who do NOT have Kindergarten-aged children are recommended, so that incoming Kindergarten parents can participate in the event with their child.
Kindergarten Screening
Assist with checking in new kindergarten students as they meet the kindergarten staff. Meet new parents and run activities with the kindergartners.
Membership and Directory Spot
Receive and compile data associated with maintaining Dryden PTA membership and manage Directory Spot for use by all Dryden PTA families
Musicals
Assist the musical chair with grade level musicals. Jobs may include decorating, sound board, song lyrics, etc. It is helpful for parents to volunteer for another grade's musical so parents can enjoy their child's own musical without having to help.
Picture Day
Volunteers assist the photographers and the Picture Day chair during the school day while classroom photos are being taken.
Plant Sale
Volunteers will assist the chair with plant sale pickups during the school year.
Reflections
Reflections is a national PTA contest in the arts that is held each year. Reflections chair will advertise the art contest and submit  entries.
Running Club
Volunteers will assist the chair on the three mornings in the fall before school that Running Club meets.
School Supply Packs
Coordinate with classroom teachers and vendors to offer an optional service for Dryden Families to easily order and receive delivery of their school supplies. Planning begins at the end of previous school year and supplies are delivered in August. 
Service Project
Involve all Dryden families in collaborating to give back to our community by supporting a charitable organization. Chair will be responsible for selecting a charity for approval by PTA Board and school principal, coordinating donations, and any additional related activities.  Volunteers will assist chair as needed.
Social Committee
Volunteers will assist the co-chairs as needed during planned social and community building events throughout the year.
Specials Grants

Help Specials Teachers acquire supplies for their classrooms. Chair will be responsible for facilitating the grant process between Specials Teachers and the PTA Board. 

Spirit Wear
Coordinate on-line Spirit Wear sales for clothing and accessories for Dryden Families 
Spirit Wear Up-cycle Program
Coordinate a drive for collecting and re-distributing previously owned spirit wear items to Dryden families.
Staff Recognition
Coordinate teacher and staff appreciation events, e.g. stock the lounge, catering meals for P/T Conferences, appreciate day gifts, etc. 
Tennis Club
Assist the co-chairs as needed during tennis club, which will meet several lunch hours during the Spring.
Veterans Day
Volunteers will assist as needed during Veterans Days events coordinated by PTA and the Dryden staff.
Winter Wonderland
Winter Wonderland is an in-school event the Friday before Winter Break. Volunteers will assist on the day of the event organizing activities, assemblies, crafts, etc. 
Year Book
Yoga Club
Meet several lunch hours during the Winter.
