In the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy, with the help of 3,000 volunteers we were able to reach 15,000 households in the Lower East Side in order to provide food, water, and other critical supplies. This experience truly highlighted the positive and mutually beneficial nature of volunteerism. In being a small community based organization, GOLES recognizes and values the active role volunteers can play in supporting our endeavors in the Lower East Side. At GOLES, we are committed to social justice and recognize that our volunteers are also students, parents and workers, which is why we believe in being flexible and open to working with folks with varying levels of commitment and capacity.
If you are interested in volunteering at GOLES, please fill out the Volunteer Application below. If there's a project that matches your interests and availability, volunteers will be interviewed and required to sign a volunteer agreement, and establish an agreed upon schedule with the GOLES staff. In order to maintain a sustainable, positive and efficient relationship it is necessary that volunteers honor and follow through with whatever level of commitment they make. We welcome you to get involved in our upcoming projects but also expect that volunteers be honest about their capacity and consistent in their participation.
We look forward to having you join the team!
