DESCRIPTION - Surfrider Foundation NYC is seeking a Fundraising Coordinator to lead the chapter’s fundraising efforts. They will help develop a fundraising plan, delegate tasks, and motivate committee members toward the achievement of the chapter’s fundraising goals. The Chapter Executive Committee, through the annual planning and budgeting process, identifies the priority fundraising goals for the chapter. The Fundraising Coordinator works closely with the Executive Committee to identify the primary ways the chapter will raise the funds. BASIC REQUIREMENTS FOR OFR REP: Must be a Surfrider Foundation Member, volunteer an estimated 1-2 hours a week, attend chapter meetings and events as scheduled and team meetings as requested (estimated at 1-2 per month).
The Fundraising Coordinator will perform a variety of tasks such as:
Create a fundraising plan based on the chapter’s budget, outlining strategies, timelines, and budgets for various initiatives and works with a Fundraising Committee to do so, where applicable. The fundraising plan must be presented to and approved by the Executive Committee.
Organize Committee Activities: They schedule and lead committee meetings, ensuring productive discussions and clear action items for each member. This includes creating agendas and keeping minutes.
Identify Fundraising Opportunities: The Fundraising Coordinator explores diverse fundraising options like grant proposals, events, online campaigns, or corporate sponsorships, adhering to Chapter Bylaws and Chapter Guidelines regarding raising funds from these sources.
Delegate Tasks: They effectively delegate tasks among committee members based on skills and interests, ensuring everyone contributes.
Track and Analyze Results: They monitor the progress of fundraising efforts, analyze data, and identify areas for improvement.
SKILLS - advanced written and verbal communication; able to brainstorm new fundraising ideas; strong communication skills; passionate about environmental causes; reliable team member with high accountability; strong organizational and planning skills; open to new ideas and feedback; familiar with (or up for learning) the Surfrider Foundation NYC vision and voice; exhibits good judgment and understanding when it comes to interacting externally with the chapter’s community
