As the global community grapples with the escalating necessities
of climate change, the imperative for sustainable, locally-led climate action
becomes increasingly paramount. The complex challenges of climate adaptation
and mitigation require both immediate attention and a strategic, comprehensive
approach to financing and policy support. It is within this context that we
extend an invitation to you for the forum on "Financing Locally-Led Climate Action", slated for 18th April 2024 at the Mount Meru Hotel, Arusha, from 9 AM to 4 PM.
Our objectives include:
- Delineating and implementing
frameworks that attract and direct innovative financing towards local climate
projects, encompassing mechanisms such as microfinance schemes, green bonds,
and climate venture capital
- Augmenting the capabilities of local entities, empowering them to effectively access and leverage climate finance.
- Establishing transparent and accountable finance mechanisms, ensuring equitable participation and benefit-sharing among all societal segments.
- Championing a collaborative approach, uniting diverse stakeholders in a concerted effort to bolster locally-led climate initiatives.
- Deliberating on
fostering supportive policy and regulatory environments, facilitating a unified
flow of climate finance to the grassroots.
