Art ASL Video Awards: Video Art Call for Entries

The video art competition event for Deaf artists known as “Art ASL Video Awards” is led by a judging team of qualified members of the Deaf community.

The event brings a variety of California’s Deaf video artists together to compete in epic battles of artistry. Deaf video artists will compete against other Deaf video artists in an unlimited range of video art, all incorporating ASL, which includes music, poetry, storytelling, abstract art and more.

A panel of three members of the Deaf community and two Deaf hosts will judge Deaf video artists of all ages and styles in their ability to display their own video that incorporates art and ASL and is between 30 seconds and 2 minutes long. Competitors must make it past the qualifying round for the chance to enter the main competition. Experts score the acts using the following criteria: Content (visibility of ASL), Technique (editing and filmwork) and Creativity. The competition will only be one round, ending with the announcement of the winner. In the competition, the Deaf video artists showcase their talents for the opportunity to win up to $100, with one grand prize awarded to each of the two different groups (Students) and (Adults), followed by prizes awarded to second and third place winners. The event will be produced by Lenois Productions and sponsored by California Association of the Deaf (CAD).
