We the undersigned desire to have multiple public meetings that may involve presentations by Snowbird, Mountain Accord, AFCVision, Save Our Canyons and other key stakeholders in American Fork Canyon including those with commercial interests in the canyon.
The aforementioned key stakeholders were engaged in the Mountain Accord processes for Big Cottonwood Canyons and Little Cottonwood Canyons. Once the Mountain Accord process began to involve private and forest service land swaps in American Fork Canyon, the scope of Mountain Accord changed, therefore warrant the same processes and open meetings as done in SLC and Summit Counties.
How will my infomation be used?
This petition may be printed and delivered to AFCVision, MountainAccord and/or elected officials including media in an effort to get the voices and concerns of the citizens considered. We believe strongly that public open houses are vital to help maintain transparency in the processes that involve American Fork Canyon and Snowbirds commercial efforts to expand into Mineral Basin.
Who we are?
Protect and Preserve American Fork Canyon is a grass-roots movement to inform citizens of potential threats to American Fork Canyon, whether they be commercial interests or that of loving our canyon to death. We view American Fork Canyon as the "Crown Jewel of the Wasatch." We focus on providing advocacy to support our causes, and serve as a central information resource for related recreational user in the canyon. Our Purpose? To help educate Utah County Citizens and to encourage citizens to get involved, to make informed decisions through a democratic process about outside plans which may threaten this pristine canyon and the watershed. We will hold elected officials to transparency and accountability in these processes.
