September 2020 Natural Mystery
Summer may be starting to wind down, but pollinators are still busy as can be foraging on late season blooms. Minnesota is home to a remarkable diversity of bees. Volunteers with the Minnesota Bee Atlas have identified over 150 species so far--with more expected as the project continues. This month's Natural Mystery is one of those observations. This photo was taken mid-August in Southeastern Minnesota, near Rochester. The question is "who?"
An ideal answer will identify the animal to species, explain how you arrived at your answer, and detail how you eliminated other possible answers. Sharing these details will help others benefit from your process.
Answers are due by October 4.
