Exhibitor's Agreement
Artists offer artwork on consignment as a wholesaler to Sheboygan Visual Artists, (aka SVA), as a retailer. SVA retails it and earns a 20% profit. That way, the artist, as a wholesaler, does not owe any sales tax. SVA collects sales tax and remits it to the state. SVA pays credit card fees out of SVA’s 20% profit.
SVA retains a very low 25% commission on all sales through this event. So when you establish prices for your work, make sure you consider that commission.
SVA reserves the right to refuse any submission that is deemed inappropriate for presentation in the public realm, primarily commercial in its intent, offensive, and/or dangerous.
Packing, transportation, handling expenses, and risk of loss or damage incurred in the delivery of artworks from the artist to and from SVA is the responsibility of the artist. For online show sales, all arrangements with the customer, packing, transportation, handling expenses, and risk of loss or damage incurred in the delivery of artworks from the artist to the customer are the responsibility of the artist.
Artists are responsible for ensuring their artwork if they so choose. The galleries are locked when not in use, protected with an intrusion alarm, and a sprinkler system.
The artist reserves all rights to the reproduction of the artworks except as noted as follows: SVA may use an image of the artwork for publicity, promotion, and virtual shows.
Two-dimensional artwork that is to be shown in person should be ready to hang using wire rather than sawtooth hangers.
Photographic artwork minimum requirements:
1. Must either be printed by a professional photographic print service, (examples: Walgreens, Nations Photo, Office Max, Walmart, etc.), or a photo grade printer. General use, table-top printer/scanner/copiers are not acceptable.
2. Format must be at least fine art paper or quality digital photo paper. Plain/copy paper is not acceptable.
3. Submit one label for each type of format. For example, submit separate labels for a stretched canvas print and a fine art paper print.
Artists acknowledge that they are the creator, copyright owner, and titleholder of the artwork. Original artwork is any piece that is done from an original design, your own personal photograph, or inspired by someone else's photograph but is substantially changed so as to be clearly discernable as your own artwork. Works based on copyrighted materials that are not clearly and substantially changed are not considered original. SVA is not responsible for model releases.
If a customer wants to take their art purchase immediately, they may do so.
This agreement shall be governed by the law of the State of Wisconsin.
