Advocate Program Application Form
Project co-managers will be directly responsible for implementing a successful advocate program model at UBC. Co-managers will be working with each other and in collaboration with local UBC resources to help develop a program for new-to-UBC students to work with peer mentors as a means to ease the transition from high school. Mentees will be gaining insight to on-campus resources and strategies to tackle any learning barriers.
Will be responsible for social media coverage of the Advocate Program and working in coordination with project co-managers and peer mentors. Communication Executive will be expected to produce social media content from time-to-time covering the progress of the Advocate Program and its importance for learning diverse students.
Peer mentors will be responsible for acting as mentors for new-to-UBC students. Students will be going through a brief crash-course and be acquainted with the various learning resources which are available on-campus. Mentors will be expected to meet with the mentees on a weekly or biweekly basis (alternative schedules for added flexibility can be made in collaboration with mentees). Peers are expected to share their knowledge and advice when it comes to study techniques and learning technology along with on-campus resources for learning diverse students.
Prior to the implementation of the program, there will be bi-weekly meetings place to discuss logistics and implementation strategies.
