[MAKE A COPY] OFTW Chapter Co-President Application
One for the World is an organization with school chapters in the U.S., Canada, and Australia which encourages students to pledge 1% of their future income to alleviate extreme poverty. One for the World distributes these donations across the world's most effective charities, which are evaluated by the charity assessment organization GiveWell.
One for the World has become one of the largest groups on Columbia's campus. In fall 2018, OFTW Columbia became the highest performing chapter, tripling its membership, raising $65K worth of yearly pledges (compared to $16K in Fall 2017), and achieving the most successful semester in OFTW’s history.
In Spring 2019, we continue to collect pledges and have organized events with speakers such as Rob Mather, Founder and CEO of Against Malaria Foundation (February 2019) and Kennedy Odede, Founder and CEO of Shining Hope For Communities, the youngest organization to receive the Hilton Humanitarian prize in 2018 (March 2019).
This academic year, OFTW Columbia has had the most successful year in OFTW's history. We have recruited 242 pledges for $132,899, out-fundraising Wharton and Penn Law and recruiting more than two times as many dollars as the next most successful undergraduate chapter.
Strong leadership is required to continue this growth and lead the way in the fight against extreme poverty. We are looking to recruit three talented individuals for the role of co-president.
The OFTW Executive Board includes the co-presidents, vice president, director of donor relations, talent managers, and chairs of the Outreach, Marketing, Growth & Strategy, and Social Event Planning committees.
