Supporting disaster recovery requires good leadership to work with volunteers and local recovery leaders to
coordinate workflow, ensure safety, and walk along side communities recovering from disasters. Thank you, for your interest in being part of our Core Crew of volunteers and leaders that make this important work possible.
Completing the training adds you to our list of available leaders; it does not obligate you to serve. You will have opportunities to determine participation based on your own availability and interest for future service.
Our next Disaster Site Leadership Training in 2026 will be:
- Part 1: February 17-18, 2026, 2-5pm ET - Virtually
- Part 2: TBD - In person, expenses paid
To be “certified” as a Site Leader, volunteers must complete BOTH virtual and in-person sessions. If needed, we can arrange for alternative in-person training dates. WoC will cover expenses for the in-person portion of the training that will be held in a location TBD.The training is for those individuals or couples who are willing and able to serve, as part of the project leadership team on a domestic rebuild project. During the training, leaders will learn to support recovery and become certified to lead onsite projects with Week of Compassion in one of two ways:
- Volunteer Experience Leader – providing hospitality for volunteer teams, serving and guiding educational/faith formation components (daily reflections, conversations with local partners, etc.)
- Recovery Project Leader - leading volunteer teams in repair/rebuild projects and liaising with construction partners and community leaders
