2018-19 Committee Membership Application
The SUNY Student Assembly strives to accomplish new heights each year. In order to push initiatives and create dialogue, SUNY SA has a number of committees that students from all 64 campuses can serve on. We need your leadership to be the most successful the organization has ever been. Below are the details for each committee:

Academic Affairs:
The Academic Affairs Committee works to improve the academic experience for SUNY students. Its members research issues throughout the system and attempt to develop policies that the Student Assembly can advocate for at the state level. The Academic Affairs Committee welcomes all SUNY students to share their concerns and ideas so that we can best represent them.

Campus Safety:
The Campus safety committee represents the SUNY students and helps to promote initiatives to keep students safe and protected. The committee is currently working on new campaigns towards sexual assault prevention as well as health and wellness campaigns supporting mental health initiatives. In addition to this, the committee is working on making sure students are properly educated on the impacts of drug, alcohol and tobacco use.

Conference Planning:
The Conference Planning Task Force works specifically with the Vice President to brainstorm and collaborate on Conference ideas, implementation, and planning.

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion:
The Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee works to provide a voice for the student body on all SUNY campuses, create welcoming and inclusive environments, and act on behalf of students. The Committee also researches topics for a variety of different cultures to dissolve common stereotypes and collaborates with other SUNY SA committees where appropriate.

Finance and Development:
The Finance Committee shall be responsible for developing annual fundraising goals and working with the External Relations team to develop marketing strategies with the goals of cultivating funding sources and increasing business appeal of the organization.

The Sustainability Committee’s main focus is ensuring that as a system of 64 campuses, we are doing our part as a national leader to combat climate change and reduce our impact on the environment. Our belief is that sustainability is encompassing of the environment, students, resources, and part of our global responsibility as the largest network of higher ed institutions. We advocate for ways to efficiently use our resources, leave a smaller carbon footprint, and to minimize the amount of waste produced. We plan to achieve our goals by connecting with campuses, assessing their needs, and trying to provide resources and resolutions to address the most pressing issues.
