The face of farmers in New England is changing. Opportunities for an agricultural education in high schools are a fraction of what they once were, and while more and more of us are college educated, many of those degrees are from liberal arts schools with no agriculture department.
There are many opportunities for farmers to learn about new techniques and technologies at workshops and conferences, but these are often technical "how-to" presentations.
Would you be interested in deeper learning opportunities? We are hoping to create a college level "short-course" or perhaps several, eventually. The purpose would be to provide an educational experience in multidisciplinary agricultural science, also know as agroecology.
Your survey responses will help us to justify the purpose for applying to SARE (Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education) for a grant to fund the creation of such a course. Please distribute widely.
