We are looking for Mesa Mentors for new families!
The Mesa Mentor mission is to help make new Mesa families feel:
Welcomed, Informed, Supported, and Valued.
Big Impact, Small Commitment:
You will be assigned a family that is new to Mesa. If possible, it will be a family with a child in the same grade, but this may not always be possible. We ask the Mesa Mentors can commit to the following:
Before the school year starts, Mesa Mentors contact their Mentees and drop off a Welcome Bag. Tracey will assign you your new Mesa family and provide you with their contact information as well as the Welcome bag which you will pick up from the front office. If you have your assigned family by the end of May, please do this by the beginning of the summer. If your family signs up during the summer to Mesa, please try and reach out to the family as soon as you are able in August.
Organize an informal gathering at a park or coffee shop with your assigned family to get acquainted. This can be a one-on-one meeting with the parent or a family-to-family get together.
Attend a New Family gathering an hour before Meet the Teacher the Monday before school starts (If you are out of town, we understand if you can't make it. Please don't let this dissuade you from being a mentor!)
Check-in with your Mesa Mentees via email or text sometime during the first or second week of school to make sure all is well. Occasional check-ins throughout the year are encouraged.
