This series will focus on having fun with tension between characters in improv scenes. Tension and discomfort is the gateway to comedy, and we create it in real time by leaning into it. We can have fun playing characters with blind spots, stubborn opinions and selfish wants whose choices generate tensions with other characters and explore the dilemmas that develop as a result. This is an exercise in creative expansion that strengthens our capacity to tolerate uncertainty, discover themes within and between scenes, and follow the fun wherever it goes - to which we contribute but do not control. The warm-up exercises and games will generate warmth and a strong spirit of support within the group, and the overall experience is a genuine delight while exploring human dilemmas.
