Summer Yoga weekend with Noa Merchand; Friday 26 - Sunday 28 July 2019
Noa joins us from Israel with her deep and devoted practice of Yoga. Annie Beatty(chair of MCIY) first met Noa in Marseilles, 2016, where Noa was translating for Christian Pisano. Immediately Annie was aware of a deep understanding of Yoga that this young student was absorbing through this close work with a master of Yoga and devoted student of BKS Iyengar.

Already her young eyes had developed a sharp awareness of Asana. In Yoga we are asked to develop a friendliness, Maitri. Maitri helps us to develop in our own bodies and develop in the body of a community. Obviously friendliness is a personal thing, but the maitri that Annie experienced with Noa and Noa's relationship with her Yoga set a seed in Annie's mind to one day invite her to come to teach in the UK.

Since the first meeting, Noa has been developing her practice and teaching and is qualified in our Iyengar Yoga system to Junior Intermediate III. We are delighted that Noa has agreed to come and teach for Midland Counties Iyengar Yoga and hope you will enjoy the opportunity to be able to practice with a young vibrant student following the work of Guruji Iyengar in the 21st century.

There are only 13 spaces on this weekend. We always keep the cost of courses to a minimum, but smaller numbers mean that this course is slightly more expensive than usual.

PROGRAMME
Friday: Asana 3pm-5pm Pranayama 5.30-6.30pm
Saturday: Asana 9.30am - 12.30pm and 3pm-5pm
Sunday: Pranayama 8am-9am Asana 9.45am-12.45pm and 3pm-5pm

EXPERIENCE
We would like Noa to be welcomed by a group of keen Yoga students. What does that mean? If you come to class regularly but don't have a home practise, you are welcome to attend but do develop your safe practice of inversions in your own time. Savasana is also very important to develop. If you already have a home practise or are a teacher this weekend will help you to develop further. Six months minimum experience required. This workshop is not be suitable for inexperienced students with medical needs.

This non-residential weekend is being held in the tranquil surroundings of Woodend House, Shrawley, Stourport-on-Severn WR6 6TQ. The studio is fully equipped for Iyengar Yoga. We hope it will have the feel of a retreat.

COST
Whole weekend: £105 for MCIY and other Iyengar Yoga members or £115 for non-members.
Friday: £25/£30
Saturday and Sunday: £90/£100
(There is a reduced price of £85 for the whole weekend if you are able to volunteer help to MCIY
