Registration for Let's Play It: A Linguistics Drama Camp

Parents,

Thank you for your interest in our K-3 linguistics drama camp program! As a mother of a dual language student, concerned for my son’s transition into a new school, making new friends, and absorbing a new language, I wanted to do something to ease the process. I was inspired to utilize my background (Acting, Arts Administration, and Radio/TV broadcasting) to enhance his experience through creative play. Keeping that smile on his face is worth the world to me, as I am sure it is for you and your child as well! With that at heart came the "Let’s Play It!" program here before you today, a special project of The Mosaic Hub, Houston’s hub for creative expression.

Campers entering kindergarten through third grade will experience creative play, learning the basics of acting and theater production, while learning a new language with bilingual instructors! Our goal is to make language tangible! At camp, all five senses will be explored. Kids will learn how to act out scenes, play games, make props, and even help with building and designing sets. Through play, kids will learn basic conversations and vocabulary in English and Spanish, identifying objects and situations in real life in order to retain the information. The camp concludes with a bilingual play called Excalibur Garden!

All levels of language proficiency welcome, and the child does not need to be a dual language student to participate! Incorporating the use of TPR (Total Physical Response) and Bloom’s Taxonomy, students will unlock mental pathways for a cognitive and fun-filled experience!

The camp will take place the week of July 18-29 from 9 a.m. – Noon at the brand new Hub Studio, 1502 Sawyer, Studio #232, Houston, TX 77007. (Hub Studio’s Grand Opening and Silent Auction will take place July 8th. For tickets, to donate, or sponsor: www.hubstudiohouston.com)

The cost for camp is $300 for the first camper, plus a $40 registration fee due July 15th. Each additional sibling is only half price. Follow the prompts below to register your child. Each child needs his or her own online registration form completed.
